刺し子織り
「刺し子」は耐久性や保温の為に布を重ねて糸で縫い合わせる手技です。
こちらの生地は、福島県の一人の職人さんが確立した技法で、布を織る作業と同時に刺し子となる太い糸を織り込むという、機械織りで作られています。
機械織りとはいっても、その日の湿度・温度・糸のコンディションを見極めながらの作業となり、職人さんが付きっきりで1時間に1mほどしか制作ができません。
丁寧に手間隙をかけて作られている暖かみを感じられる生地となります。

ubushinaのプロダクトとしてあつかっています刺し子の生地は、昔ながらの素朴な刺し子が少しモダンに仕上がり、独特な文様が美しく、色の組み合わせを選ぶだけでも楽しくなります。

Sashiko Fabric
Sashiko is an embroidery technique to sew quilting fabrics, which is originated in North part of Japan to improve durability and warmth of clothing. This ubushina’s fabric product is designed and produced by an artisan in Fukushima prefecture. He invented a new method to produce Sashiko. The process involves a machine that can stitch patterns while the fabric is woven. The artisan carefully handles the machine seeing temperature, humidity, and condition of threads. It takes one hour to produce 1m of the fabric. His time and effort bring human warmth to the fabric.

Stitch pattern of our fabric products is modern interpretation of traditional Sashiko patterns. You can enjoy color combinations of fabric and embroideries; select from the following color line-up or bespoke your favorite.
